Putting words in Al Gore's mouth, the Hoover Institution's Peter Schweizer rails against Al Gore because he's not living a monastic lifestyle.Schweizer obviously hasn't seen An Inconvenient Truth. Gore spends the last few minutes of the film explaining how even modest changes in energy use are all that's needed to reverse global warming. An Inconvenient Truth isn't an EarthFirst diatribe. No one is asking us to move into caves or give up our stock.Schweizer does do a pubic service by confirming that Al Gore is very much a mainstream politician.
So, the Mugster and I are off to D.C. on Saturday. LMOMC is cat-sitting, so don't think of breaking in...This is a photo of part of the statue called "The Awakening." One of the many cool things to see.
One of my favorite lines from a computer manual was in the manual for a modem I had years ago.It opened with "You are very blessed to have purchased such a well behaved modem."And indeed I was. Here are some more examples of what is being dubbed "Chinglish".Just for the record, my Chinese is way worse than their English. :-)
I've turned comments back on, and I see a comment link. But I'm not sure how to actually add comments...
We fed Emma, the anarchist snake, today. Three itsy bitsy mice. Lizzie was suddenly interested when she noticed the third course.
Apple has a web service called .Mac. (I won't bother linking to it because it's not worth knowing more about.)It offers web hosting, email, etc. and a few other services that are generally free elsewhere, for about $80-100 a year, depending on your ability to find a promotion. It was originally free, then became a subscription service. Because of my various involvement in Apple programs (developer, consulting or employment), I've never had to pay for it. My subscription just lapsed and so, if I were to continue, I'd have to pay since I'm no longer affiliated with Apple in any way.I've not continued. So some cool photo albums have disappeared from the net, including the home of the header graphic I'm using at the top of this blog. I have backups, of course. But it will take some work to migrate things because of the proprietary nature of how Apple builds the sites. In a timely happenstance, Google released the Mac version of their Picasa Web software. So, I'm able to post a few things now. The first became the first, because mom happened to be looking for it. They are the photos that my cousin Doug took when he, one of his sisters and his mom came to visit upon the occasion of my dad's passing. (how's that for a labored sentence.)The second, because I'm a sucker for a good pun, is a group of pictures of my office mates. Certain parts of our office are called 'pods' for reasons that aren't really clear.
How hot is it? Probably not as bad as where you are. I am glad I'm not here. I'm really glad I'm not here, but then if I had been, I wouldn't be there now anyway, they're all leaving. How hot is it here? It's really hot. But, like hell, it's a dry heat.
Bryan, my office-buddy and car-pool mate, penned a few verses upon the occasion of my dawning dotage. Bryan's delivery adds a lot, but the text is quite amusing on its own. Thanks Bryan!
Here's the mix for last night's party. Juz call me dJleE.
Lilah is 21 today. I tried to think of the most embarrassing photo I have (the photo she'd find most embarrassing), that's already on the web. So, here's Lilah as a scarecrow for a school play.
