Molly-Olly being a sport....
Pete McClosky, a former Republican congressman who once ran against Richard Nixon (!), is considering a run against Richard Pombo. Pombo has been parked in Congress for quite a while, mostly pretty useless until recently when seniority made him fairly dangerous. Here are some links about the race and about Pombo.A friend forwarded this e-mail.
Many thanks: Just keep sending me your good thoughts, and also
the names, etc. of anyone you know in Lodi, Escalon, Stockton. Tracy, Lathrop, Manteca, Brentwood, Oakley, Danville, San Ramon, Pleasanton, Dublin and Morgan Hill. I will then contact them, use your name and ask for their help against this man who wants to privatize the remaining public lands in Northern California. Pombo also has introduced a bill to allow Congress to override the Supreme Court on constitutional issues. He deserves being beaten by someone, Republican or Democrat. . . . Pete

Viggo Mortensen blasts President Bush: "“I’m not anti-Bush; I’m anti-Bush behavior,” Mortensen told Progressive magazine. “In other words, I’m against cheating, greed, cruelty, racism, imperialism, religious fundamentalism, treason, and the seemingly limitless capacity for hypocrisy shown by Bush and his administration.”"

Back from the Black Miasma.: " I feel as though I've settled into discourses in my academic life that I can follow and add to, and most importantly that I can make use of in my life and in my world. "
On my out of work tongiht I saw an open office door and stopped by to say goodnight. The occupant noticed my computer bag and said it looked Finnish. I said that I aspired to be Finnish. I thought for a second (just a second!) and said."I want to go to Finland so I could learn to do a Lapp dance."
