LWJ and I were at Dos Coyotes last night. I brought up the Republican debate, wherein three of the candidates said they didn't believe in evolution.LWJ, the perfect foil for this post, was aghast. Why, I replied, would you be aghast when half the American public doesn't believe in evolution. There I am, in a restaurant, having to provide chapter and verse (irony intended) on the ignorance of the American public.Frankly, I don't care if they believe in evolution any more than I care if they believe in gravity. It is what it is.And ignorance doesn't have to be permanent. Progress is steady, but not linear.A hundred years ago, children worked the mills of this country. Women couldn't vote, nationally, until 1920. And today, some folks are still trying to disenfranchise voters. And of those three Republican candidates opposing evolution, none were among the top tier. Even if a Republican wins in 2008, we will make progress.
The FBI searched the Virginia home of Rep. John Doolittle (R-Calif.) last Friday in its investigation into ties between the congressman and his wife, Julie, and disgraced former lobbyist Jack Abramoff, according to law enforcement and other Congressional and K Street sources.http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/fbi-searches-republican-lawmakers-home-2007-04-18.html
The sooner he's gone, the better.
The deadline is today, if you're filing for an extension.
The deadline is tomorrow if you're not.By definition, if you're filing an extension, you need more time. So, they give you less.

All gone... Gig and a half of disk space are back...
Doesn't look like a keeper. It's taken days to fully index and is taking a boat load of disk space to do so:

If you work on web sites and you're graphically-challenged, as I am, you'll appreciate this:http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/kuler/It's a color theme suggester. If you want to know which colors go with which, or need some inspiration, this is the tool.Just last week I consulted a graphics person because a web site I was working on looked goofy. My resource gave me some tips that helped. Next time, I can just use Kuler. On a different theme, Shorpy is a site that presents images of working people and their life. It's named for Shorpy Higginbotham, a child mine-worker from the early 1900s.This photo caught my eye.
